PRC Community Care Raises $20,000 for HIV/AIDS Education, Prevention & Care |
Plantation, FL - May 5, 2006 - Between participating in area walks and company fundraisers, PRC Community Care, PRC's community outreach division, was able to raise $20,000 for the AIDS Walk Miami and AIDS Walk Fort Lauderdale. Two weekends in a row PRC Community Care organized more than 50 PRC employees to lace up their walking shoes for a good cause. The funds donated will be used for education, prevention and treatment programs throughout south Florida.
PRC fundraising efforts took place in PRC's contact centers located in Florida, Pennsylvania, Iowa and North Carolina. Each center was split up to form Team PRC Community Care Miami and Team PRC Community Care Broward. The teams competed to see who could raise the most money, which was then matched by a grant from The Foundation of IAC/InterActiveCorp, PRC's parent company
"PRC Community Care allows our employees to give back to the community where they work and live," said David Wylie, PRC Communications Manager and PRC Community Care Coordinator. "Our employees really come together and make a difference for people in need, whether it is donating gifts, walk-a-thons or time."
"Broward County is ranked number one in the nation for new HIV cases and number four for new AIDS cases. When PRC joined with their community service track record and enthusiasm, we were so excited to work together," stated William Archer, Event Director of AIDS Walk Fort Lauderdale. "So far we are up to $362,000 and you can see that PRC was a big help. I personally thank PRC and look forward to making this an annual event."
"We work with over 4,000 AIDS patients in South Florida who don't pay for medical treatment. The money raised will help us continue our efforts to treat and educate our neighbors," said Terry DeCarlo, Public Relations and Marketing Manager for Care Resource. "We loved the fact that PRC employees came together and did an unbelievable job of fundraising their first year and can't wait till next year."
